Inventory Transfers

Inventory transfers in Racko allow you to move items between locations or between bins within the same location. This feature is crucial for managing multi-location inventories and optimizing stock distribution.

Types of Transfers

Racko supports various types of transfers:

  1. Location-to-Location: Move items between different warehouse locations.
  2. Bin-to-Bin: Transfer items between bins within the same location (for bin-tracked locations).
  3. Work Order Transfers: Automatically generated from work orders.

Creating a Transfer

To create a new inventory transfer:

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Transfer in the main menu.

  2. Click on Add New on the top right.

  3. Fill out the transfer form with the following information:

    • Date: The date of the transfer
    • From Location: The source location
    • To Location: The destination location
    • Reason: Brief explanation for the transfer (optional)
  4. For each item being transferred:

    • Select the Item
    • Enter the Quantity to transfer
    • For bin-tracked locations, specify the From Bin and To Bin
  5. Add any additional notes or comments

  6. Click Save to process the transfer

Shipping Information

For location-to-location transfers, you can add shipping details:

  • Ship Method: The method of transportation
  • Tracking Number: For shipment tracking
  • Shipping Cost: The cost of shipping the items

Racko can create a bill based on the shipping vendor associated with the chosen ship method.

Valuation During Transfer

When items are transferred, their value is calculated based on the valuation method selected in your inventory settings (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, or Weighted Average).

Generating Transfers from Reorder Reports

Racko allows you to generate inventory transfers directly from the Reorder report:

  1. Go to Reports > Item > Reorder Report.
  2. Set filters, including a specific "To Location".
  3. Run the report.
  4. In the Actions section, select a "From Location".
  5. Click Generate Transfer.

The generated transfer will appear in the Transfers list, where you can review and edit it as needed.

Best Practices

  1. Regularly review and optimize your transfer processes to ensure efficient stock distribution.
  2. Use transfer reasons to track the purpose of each transfer for better inventory management.
  3. Reconcile transfers with physical counts to ensure accuracy.
  4. Set up automated notifications for large or critical transfers.
