Ship Method Mapping
Racko's Ship Method Mapping feature allows you to automatically set the shipping service for an order based on the customer's selection during checkout. This powerful tool streamlines your shipping process and ensures that orders are processed with the correct shipping method.
Understanding Ship Method Mapping
When a customer selects a shipping option during checkout, this information is imported into Racko as the "Requested Service". Ship Method Mapping allows you to link these Requested Services to specific carrier services and package types in Racko.
Note: Ship Method Mapping must be configured for each store individually, as shipping options may vary between different selling channels.
Creating Ship Method Mappings
There are two ways to create Ship Method Mappings in Racko:
1. Mapping from an Order
- In the Shipping Sidebar or Order Details screen, locate the "Requested Service" field.
- If unmapped, click the "unmapped" link next to the Requested Service.
- In the pop-up window, select the desired Service and Package type.
- Click "Save Mapping".
Advantage: This method ensures you're mapping to the exact Requested Service value as imported.
2. Mapping in Store Settings
- Go to Settings > Selling Channels > Store Setup.
- Select the store you want to configure.
- Navigate to the "Shipping Services" tab.
- Click "Add New Mapping" or edit existing mappings.
- Enter the Requested Service value and select the corresponding Racko service and package type.
- Click "Save Changes".
Advantage: Mappings are set up in advance, applying to orders as soon as they import.
Editing Existing Mappings
To modify an existing mapping:
- Click "Mapped" next to the Requested Service in the order view, or
- Edit the mapping in the store's Shipping Services settings.
Warning: Editing a mapping will affect all open orders with the same Requested Service from that store.
Automatic Service Selection
For stores that support Checkout Rates:
- Go to the store's settings in Racko.
- Navigate to the "Checkout Rates" tab.
- Check the box for "On order import, automatically set the Shipping Service selected by the customer at checkout."
- Click "Save Changes".
This option overrides other service mappings and directly applies the customer's selection.
Example: Mapping Expedited Shipping
Let's say you offer an "Expedited" shipping option in your store for $20.00, and you want to fulfill these orders using FedEx Overnight.
- Go to your store's Shipping Services settings in Racko.
- Add a new mapping:
- Requested Service: "Expedited"
- Racko Service: "FedEx Overnight"
- Package Type: [Select appropriate package]
- Save the mapping.
Now, when an order imports with "Expedited" as the Requested Service, Racko will automatically assign FedEx Overnight as the shipping method.
Best Practices
- Regularly review and update your mappings to ensure they align with your current shipping strategies.
- Use consistent naming conventions for shipping options across your stores to simplify mapping.
- Consider creating mappings for all possible shipping options to minimize manual intervention.
- Test your mappings with sample orders to ensure they're working as expected.
Troubleshooting
If mappings aren't applying as expected:
- Verify the exact Requested Service value in the imported order.
- Check that the mapping is created for the correct store.
- Ensure the mapped service is available for the shipping address.
- Review any conflicting automation rules that might override the mapping.
